KTech Mix & Mingle Delivers Tech Insights and Tournament Fun at Visit Knoxville Open

On Tuesday, May 20th, professionals from Knoxville’s tech and business communities gathered at the historic Holston Hills Country Club for the KTech Mix & Mingle, hosted as part of the Visit Knoxville Open golf tournament.

We kicked off the evening with an open bar, tasty appetizers, and laid-back networking around the clubhouse. Guests reprsented a range of companies, from startups to large organizations in a variety of industries. All came out to connect, share ideas, and just enjoy the vibe. It was the perfect way to set the tone for a fun and insightful night.

The evening’s main program featured presentations from two PGA TOUR insiders who offered insight on the cutting-edge tech driving today’s professional golf. Tommie Sheridan, PGA TOUR Tournament Operations Coordinator, walked attendees through the advanced features of ShotLink – a real-time scoring and data system that uses lasers, tablets, and cloud infrastructure to track every shot on the course. This technology powers everything from digital leaderboards to in-depth analytics for players and fans.

Griffin Klumb, Communications Specialist at the PGA TOUR, introduced attendees to the TOUR’s new media facility in St. Augustine, Florida. This state-of-the-art hub includes live production studios, editing bays, and content distribution tools, enabling seamless delivery of highlights, interviews, and tournament media across platforms.

After the presentation, guests made their way to the practice green for a friendly putting challenge, hosted by Charlie Clarkson, Tournament Director of the Visit Knoxville Open.

After everyone took their turn on the putting green, two participants stood out – Tonya Gallo of SA Recycling and Joshua Peters Founder of Effusio. Their putts landed closest to the hole, earning them first place! They each received two Centriworks Club passes – valued at $350, which grant access to unlimited food and drinks in private hospitality areas during tournament play. It was a well-earned prize to celebrate some impressive short-game skills from two standout members of our local tech community!

All attendees received complimentary general admission passes, giving them the chance to return to the Visit Knoxville Open later in the week. Having an event of this caliber right in our own backyard is a unique opportunity to watch the pros up close, take in the tournament atmosphere, and enjoy the excitement of the PGA TOUR!
