He is co-founder and President of the Knoxville Technology Council. John also founded Sword and Shield, now known as Avertium.

Introducing Frontier: The Word’s First Exascale Supercomputer
Matt will give an overview of Frontier, the Department of Energy’s exascale supercomputer, and will tell the inside story of its construction and science mission.
Oak Ridge Leadership Computing Facility (OLCF) | Frontier Deputy Project Director
Matt holds a Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and has decades of experience working on projects such as electron-stimulated chemistry, copper interconnect process technology, statistical modeling of computational hardware, and IP licensing & export control. Matt joined ORNL in 2009 and moved to OLCF in 2018. He is now leading the effort to procure the successor to Frontier.
